Priory castle
Tynemouth castle is a few minutes walk from the basement. Located on a rocky headland and overlooking tynemouth pier and long sands.
King Edwards beach
A small shady eclipsed by cliffs and grassy banks the beach is the foot of Tynemouth Priory and castle. With an award winning blue flag and seaside awards it’s the perfect place to take a stroll, swim or surf.
Bamburgh castle
Bamburgh Castle has stood guard above the spectacular Northumberland coastline for over 1,400 years. Spanning nine acres of land on its rocky plateau, Bamburgh Castle is one of the largest inhabited castles in the country.
St Mary’s lighthouse
The lighthouse is a major landmark situated north of Whitley bay. The surrounding nature reserve contains an area of rock pools, cliff top grassland and a beach which often you can find seals sunbathing!
Tynemouth Priory theatre
The priory theatre formed in 1946 is still heart of the village community with live performances throughout the year.
Cragside Estate
Originally the family home of Lord Armstrong, Victorian inventor and industrialist, Cragside was the first building in the world to be lit by hydroelectricity. Now in the care of the National Trust, the Cragside Estate is a truly unique visitor attraction for all ages. From the ingenious gadgetry in the main house including fire alarm buttons, telephones and a passenger lift to the estate itself with more than 30 miles of paths, lakeside walks, play areas and a Trim Trail, it's a much-loved day out.
Longsands beach
Longsands Beach sand is golden with lifeguard cover from May to September. It's really popular surfing spot with locals and visitors.
The Sage, Gateshead
